It’s been awhile since we’ve come down so starkly on different sides of an issue but here it is: this week we talk about Kingsman, which Pru loved and MK despised. But before that, we’re going to talk about Rizzoli & Isles, Community, and the X-Files before answering a few questions and giving you some hot recs.

New episode of /report! 508 Empire

slashreport:

People, brace yourselves, because this week we dive into the dazzling, dizzying world of FOX’s mega hit Empire. Pru is joined by Zara (Amazonziti), Merelyn and Tiffany to drink wine out of plastic goblets in the shape of skulls and scream loudly about the two-hour season finale of the freshman series staring Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. We talk furs, crazy plots, gay sons, eluding death, and how this show has proven so magnificently addictive.

This podcast has everyone: Pru, MK, Leupagus, Twentysomething, Merelyn, and The Hoyden, all coming together to experience the great love story of princess toiletbrush and her loyal speed skating space wolf with wings. Also, Sean Bumblebean, King of the Bees.

(So we recorded an episode of slashreport about Jupiter Ascending.)

experience our shame

There’s a lot of shame.

New episode of /report! 505 Naruto

Pru! I just watched ABC’s new Asian American comedy, Fresh Off the Boat and am kind of in love with it. Have you watched it yet? If so, what do you think of it?

We actually talk about it in this week’s Slash Report! So stay tuned. 😀

Let’s hear it, nerds

Don’t forget, we’re taking confessions for a special episode of fangirl confessions, and our box is always open for asks for an ask us anything episode!

Happy season five, folks! We’re back, we’re finally back! And we’re kicking it off with a high-velocity penetrative wound delivered — with love and affection — by Oliver Queen. This week, /report talks about the CW’s Arrow (and a little bit about the CW’s Flash). We explore why the show works (salmon ladder), and why we’re fans (salmon ladder), answer your questions, and questions you never had before listening to us and wondering about our sanity. So strap in, and for the record, we didn’t know anything about him shooting you with an arrow because it’s basically impossible to tell when he’s making a joke.

We’re updating our website so apologies for the placeholder template/new tumblr/etc. You can grab the episode here, or off iTunes/rss. Don’t forget to follow us on twitter!

Are you an asshole but not 100% a dick? Then you’re in the right place. This week we’re joined by two of our favourite assholes, Leupagus and Merelyn to have a spoiler-heavy discussion about Guardians of the Galaxy, from why the opening was weak and why that one line we all hate was dumb to why Groot is the best tree, just the best tree ever no for real don’t even bother fighting us on this one and how much we loved this movie. By the way, in case you haven’t heard? Groot is the best tree.

104 Romance Novels and the Female Gaze

Romance might be the only real breed of genre fiction left that still carries shame, but it’s also a publishing recession-proof (so far) industry that just keeps on selling no matter how tough the times are. We’re big fans of romance novels, but we’ve also got some complicated feelings about what they do right, what they do wrong, where fan fiction is better or worse, and all the issues related to that. Grab your ereader and sit down so we can hash this out, because we have a lot of feelings.

/report meetup update!

leupagus:

I’ve figured out a time and place for the meetup, but! I need a better headcount for people attending. So if you’ve messaged me indicating you’d like to come, you need to message me again with an email that I can reach you at and give you the time and place info. And if you haven’t yet messaged me but would like to come, you need to also message me with an email address. That way I can let the venue know exactly how many people are coming, rather than an estimate based on the number of people who liked my last post about this.

I’ll give out a spoiler and say that the day is Friday, which is going to not work for some people and for that I apologize, but the time/space continuum being what it is there’s simply not a way to make this universally doable for everyone. If you’re gung ho about camping out for Hall H on Saturday, you may want to miss out on this. But honestly guys, Hall H isn’t nearly as cool as /report fans, right?
